Campaign College Tour Visits Port Talbot

Last week I visited Neath Port Talbot College’s Afan Campus to talk to their hairdressing students about state registration, professionalising the sector and the important role the students have to play going forward.  It was wonderful that some Level 1 students joined the group so they could also hear about the opportunities in the vibrant and professional career they are embarking on.

I was particularly delighted to hear that none of the students faced any obstruction to pursuing their chosen career from schools, careers or parents….the message must be getting through and things are changing!!

Fran Green the head of department has pledged to register all of the hairdressing lecturers at the college and has asked the students to ensure that she doesn’t forget….a task they all seemed very pleased to take her up on!! I am looking forward to returning to the college in the near future to talk to their level 3 students.

Today I am off to meet the students and staff at Cardiff and Vale College at their new state of the art campus in Cardiff. I am looking forward to meeting Ceri Evans, Head of Department again and to promote state registration to yet more young students.
