Support from North Wales and Praise from Cardiff University

It was a pleasure to meet with Janet Finch Saunders, Conservative AM for Aberconwy, who is also Chair of the Cross Party Group for Small Shops.  Janet, who owned a hairdressing salon in North Wales, had heard about ISA’s EIA Report into the Hair and Beauty Sector in Wales and we discussed statistics which were relevant to her constituency.

I informed Janet of my work in progress campaigning to the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport, Ken Skates, to recognise the Hair & Beauty Sector as a named part of the Welsh Foundation Economy. Janet suggested and has agreed to table a question about this to Ken Skates.

Janet was very  supportive of the sector and will put the EIA on the agenda for the next Cross Party Group for Small Shops, which I look forward to attending.

The EIA was also highlighted at the Cardiff University School of Social Sciences Dinner which I attended the evening before I met Janet. The dinner was held to celebrate relationships the School has with employers who offer work placements to their students. ISA were one of the few organisations there that were able to offer a placement to a PHD student, Ross Goldstone, who produced the EIA for us.  I was very proud to be sat amongst academics who were praising the report and its content.
