Staffing has become one of the biggest challenges for salon owners across Wales. From recruitment delays to gaps in technical and customer service skills, business growth can quickly stall when your team does not have the right training and support.
At the same time, ambitious team members often feel like they hit a ceiling, lacking formal qualifications or clear progression routes.
The solution
Through ISA Training’s Welsh Government-funded apprenticeships, you can develop your existing team at no cost to your business. Whether your staff are newly hired or long-time employees, an apprenticeship with ISA Training gives them the chance to:
- Gain nationally recognised qualifications
- Upskill in areas like hairdressing, beauty therapy, nail services, and customer service
- Build confidence and loyalty – reducing staff turnover
- Contribute more to your salon’s success, sooner
How it works
Worried about time, paperwork, or logistics? Here is how we make it simple. Included with our funded apprenticeships is:
- Remote delivery via online platforms (no need for staff to leave work)
- Monthly 1:1 coaching sessions with experienced Trainer Coaches
- Minimal admin – we handle the paperwork, onboarding, and compliance
- Blended learning – combining salon-based work with tailored digital support
Whether it’s Level 2 Hair Professional or a more advanced beauty therapy qualification, we ensure the training fits into the daily rhythm of your business.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to contribute financially?
No. All Isa Training apprenticeships are fully funded for eligible learners aged 16+ in Wales, however your salon will still be paying the wage of the staff member / apprentice.
Will the training take staff away from the salon?
While your staff will need to attend face-to-face ESQ workshops which are away from the salon, there is some choice of remote delivery depending on if the learner has the equipment needed for remote delivery. However the learner will need to be on the salon floor at all times to work with our Trainer Coaches.
Is there a lot of paperwork?
Very little. While majority of the qualification is hands on practical assessments, there are elements of written work needed, however our team supports with the entire process, from registration to reporting.
Can existing employees enrol?
Yes! Many of our learners are current employees looking to progress and gain formal qualifications.
How long do apprenticeships last?
The duration varies by level, however 21 months is the longest an apprenticeship can last.
Can the training be tailored to my salon’s offerings?
Yes. While the qualifications have specified services that need to be covered, our qualifications can be customised around your salon’s specific services and needs to the best of our abilities. Plus, we help identify skills gaps and aligns training to your salon needs.
Do assessments happen on-site?
Yes. Assessments are delivered in-salon, and apprentices get 24/7 access to resources via the Moodle online platform, so there’s no need for learners to leave the salon.
Are there modern learning tools included?
ISA Training offers cutting-edge learning tools like virtual reality (VR) simulation to help apprentices train safely and sustainably.
Is progression possible after the apprenticeship?
Yes. Many salons offer apprentices continued roles afterward. ISA also encourages progression to higher levels, or apprentices might pursue roles elsewhere with confidence and qualification
